A WINDOW INTO IRAN presented by Peaceworks and Peace Action Maine

Despite Iran’s contributions in the cultural world and its significant geopolitical position in the Middle East, most Americans know little about this land. In the face of U.S. threats to execute a military attack against Iran, it is crucial that we learn more about Iranian culture, its people, its political landscape and the history of U.S. foreign policy in the region.

We will have brief presentations from the following people followed by ample time for questions, concerns and discussion:

  • Eric Hooglund, renowned scholar on Iran, presently Visiting Professor at Bates College. Eric has spent considerable time in Iran over the past 40 years.
  • Punnie Edgerton, a Brunswick artist who spent two weeks traveling in Iran this past October. She recently exhibited her photos from the trip at the Curtis Library. (To view photos go to www.edgertonphoto.com
  • Reza Jalali, Human Rights Activist from Iran, living for many years in Portland, Maine.
