We found the weapons of mass destruction. They're in the President's Budget
As the Bush administration's deception about Iraq's potential nuclear
capacity has come to light, the administration and Congress have begun to
quietly re-ignite the nuclear arms race. They are preparing to build new
nuclear weapons and resume nuclear testing. The administration's official
nuclear plan lowers the threshold for using nuclear weapons and calls for
developing "more usable" nuclear weapons for "certain battlefield
situations." The administration is threatening non-nuclear countries with
nuclear weapons. These are some of the most dangerous developments in two
decades. They could decimate international efforts to control, and
ultimately abolish these weapons.
We are launching ads nationwide as part of our Campaign for a New Foreign
Policy in order to challenge these hypocrisies. With your help, we are going
to run ads just like this one (see page 1) across the county: Our goals are
first, to alert enough people to this stealth nuclear scheme to be able to
demand that Congress STOP the Bush administration's reckless nuclear weapons
building program, and second, to insist on a New Foreign Policy for
Americaone that we and future generations can live with.
Polling information shows that 85% of all AmericansRepublicans and
Democratsfavor getting rid of all nuclear weapons. The Bush
Administration's official plans, as outlined in its "Nuclear Posture Review"
and its "National Security Strategy," signal a radical reversal in US
nuclear policy. The stated goal is to develop a "new generation" of nuclear
weapons. Join us in stopping them from launching a new arms race.
With your help, these ads will run in newspapers and mass transit systems
throughout the country and reach millions who need to know the truth. We
need your help to build momentum for a serious political debate about our
nation's role in the world. With your support we can place ads in the
hometown papers of presidential candidates and in key states. We will reach
millions of commuters and newspaper readers in San Francisco, New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and other cities.
