PAM starts Year-Round Canvass
Peace Action Maine has hired David Demere as Director of a year-round Door
Canvass with the goal of gaining new members, educating many people about
our issues, increasing Peace Action's name-recognition, and raising money.
David recently began canvassing in coastal communities south of Portland
after 2 weeks of training with Illinois Peace Action and getting systems in
place. The canvass program hopes to have 4-6 canvassers working five nights
a week, year-round, going door-to-door in the denser neighborhoods within an
hour of Portland.
Two canvassers, Josh Gillman and Tophy Yager, have already been hired and
more canvassers are needed. If you, or someone you know, would like to walk
the walk and talk the talk about peace, about the dangers of Star Wars and
excessive military spending, please contact David at 772-7866.
This program has great potential for raising awareness about PAM and our
campaigns as it reaches 150-300 households each night. Please respond
favorably when we come to your door.
