The People of Gaza: Living in a Land under Siege
Friday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 PM at the Universalist Church on 345 Broadway in Rockland.
ROCKLAND-During a May/June Code Pink delegation to Gaza, Ridgely Fuller and Carolyn Coe saw how the siege on Gaza has affected all aspects of life there. Schools and homes cannot be rebuilt because reconstruction materials like cement, wood and glass are not allowed entry. Malnutrition has resulted in stunted growth. Children have difficulty concentrating in schools. Sixty percent of the population is under 18.
The 65-member Code Pink delegation, with people from 18 states and 10 countries, was part of an international campaign to break the blockade. Fuller and Coe met with doctors, librarians, teachers, and families to learn about the struggles of Palestinians. On Friday, Sept. 4, they will report back on their trip at the Universalist Church in Rockland at 7 PM. They will present slides, share eyewitness accounts, and describe what people in our community can do. The event is sponsored by The Midcoast Peace and Justice Group and is free and open to the public.
