The Midcoast Peace and Justice Group will present “Burning Bridges” on Sept. 3 at the First Universalist Church on 345 Broadway in Rockland at 7:00 PM. The focus of the film and program is restorative justice and the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast.
“Burning Bridges” is a documentary about the arson of Mood’s Bridge, a historic covered bridge in Buck’s County, Pennsylvania, and the restorative justice conference held in its wake. This emotional conference brought together the six young men who burned down the bridge with their families and members of the community. The documentary tells the story of a community moving through grief and anger to healing.
Margaret Micolichek, executive director of the project, will be on hand to discuss the restorative justice philosophy, talk about the project’s work in Waldo and Knox Counties and to facilitate a Q & A session.
The event is free. Donations are appreciated.
