March for Truth: Maine Still Says No to War!
March 20, 2004, will be a Global Day of Action against War and Occupation.
The one-year anniversary of the U.S. bombing and invasion of Iraq will be
protested with demonstrations in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and
countless other cities in the US and throughout the world.
The Maine Coalition for Peace and Justice and many other groups throughout
the state are organizing a march and rally on that day to join the call for
an end to the occupation of Iraq and Bush's militaristic foreign policies.
We will stress the effects of the Bush administration's failed, flawed, and
dishonest policies with consequences right here in Maine. We will gather
again in our capital city to speak truth to power.
By our renewed presence and massive show of collective will we will demand
an end to spending tens of billions of tax dollars on war and empire instead
of on vital programs here in Maine and throughout the US.
You are invited to be part of the "other superpower," as The New York Times
described us. We will gather at the State Capitol in Augusta at 12 noon for
a march and rally. We will celebrate this, the first day of Spring, with
music, drama, and colorful pageantry. Stay tuned for more announcements
about the planned activities and how you can participate. For more
