Time to share a little bit about yourself, and what’s going on in your life, your community, or with groups you may work with. Short announcements of events or actions are welcome!
Maine Equal Justice Legislative Update: 11:00 am Updates on any state or federal legislation that affects people with low incomes. Since many Mainers will have a hard time heating their homes this winter, we’ll also review the programs available to help with heating and with other basic needs. Please bring information about any local programs that you know about.
MAIN Leadership Team Report: 11:30 am
1. Economic Human Rights (EHR) are the rights we need to maintain a decent quality of life. They include our right to food, healthcare, housing, living wage jobs, & education — to name a few. We’ll report on current projects that MAIN is involved in to help get economic human rights for all people.

MAIN 2008 Conference: Friday, November 7th, Augusta — At this conference, we will elect MAIN leaders and decide our legislative agenda for the next two years. If you are interested in joining the MAIN Leadership Team, contact a MAIN leader no later than October 21st. Mark your calendar and join us at the conference to help decide the issues we should work on over the next two years - health care, housing, food, wages, heating etc.

Open Discussion on Local Organizing and Issues 12:45 - 2:00 pm
We want to hear from local folks, including Northern Regional MAIN, about what you’re doing to get people to work together on local issues and projects. Are there ways for MAIN and local groups can support each other?

December 11th in Belfast.
There will not be a November meeting since MAIN’s annual conference is on Friday, November 7th at the State House in Augusta — Mark your calendar! Conference information will be in the next MAIN Update that will be out by October 1st.

From Interstate 95, take the Broadway exit (Exit 185). Follow Broadway south about one-half mile to Stillwater Avenue (first light after you pass Saint Joseph Hospital on the right). Take a left at the light. Follow Stillwater Avenue about one-tenth mile to Essex Street (the first traffic light). Turn left and go about one-half mile. We’re on the left just before the I-95 overpass.
