The Peace Action Network
Some of you may know that Peace Action Maine is part of a national network.
Peace Action is the largest peace group in the country, with a national
office in Washington DC, and affiliates from Washington state and Hawaii to
Maine.
Being part of a network helps when we work on programs together, such as the
Campaign for a New Foreign Policy. Yet we also remain independent enough to
keep close to the local membership here.
To help make us aware of our network, we are introducing a new column that
will profile a different state affiliate in each issue. For this first
column, we will stay close to home, with Massachusetts Peace Action.
About Massachusetts Peace Action:
With a mailing network of about 2,000, MPA has an office in Cambridge and
three staff members including Program Director Shelagh Foreman.
Massachusetts Peace Action is also an active presence in the national
network, sending members to the National Congress and Organizers' Meetings,
and participating on task forces and long-range planning committees. Active
at the national level from Mass PA is Peace Action national board member
Steven Brion-Meisels, Director of Research and Evaluation at Peace Games, a
Founding Board member of The Center for Peaceable Schools at Lesley
University and a Lecturer at The Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Massachusetts PA's current program areas include our nationwide Campaign for
a New Foreign Policy and the Mayors for Peace project. Want to know more, or
maybe you know someone in Massachusetts who might be interested? Here's how
