Fair Fish Campaign
Just this month, the Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded for research that proves that fisheries are better managed when groups of fishermen make collective decisions, rather than when one body imposes its rules.
This honor sends a message to the entire world that Fair Fish is the way to go. We need to take that message directly to Senator Snowe, telling her that it is time to protect our oceans, protect small-scale fishermen, and protect seafood consumers.
This Wednesday, October 28th, raise your voice and participate in our Fair Fish National Day of Action. In Portland alone, our community will generate over 100 phone calls to Senator Snowe, asking her to call for an oversight hearing on fisheries management. Across the nation, over 800 people will ask their elected officials to step up and be champions on this issue!
Will you call Senator Snowe before or on October 28th? Click http://tinyurl.com/yg2nocm to call!
Will you come to our media event at 11am at Lobsterman’s Square in Portland, to show your support? Click Nathalie Graham, Field Organizer, Food and Water Watch, Fair Fish Campaign (415)720-6315 to RSVP!

THE CAMPAIGN
Family fishermen continue to be forced out of business because of increasingly private control of our fisheries. This threatens our ocean ecosystems and limits our access to sustainable seafood. But this year we can change the way we manage our fisheries and ensure fair access for small-scale fishermen, protect our oceans, and ensure consumer access to sustainably-caught fish. But to do that, we need to make our voices heard and convince Senator Snowe to call for Congressional oversight hearings this Fall.
