PLEASE JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 6 PM IN THE ABBOTT ROOM OF THE BELFAST PUBLIC LIBRARY TO SEE “THIRST” — A documentary that has won many awards and, according to some critics, is a remarkable film that will inspire you to act! It is a character driven documentary with no narration that reveals how the debate over water rights between communities and corporations can serve as a catalyst for explosive and steadfast resistance to globilization. It raises the question — Is water part of a shared “commons”, a human right for all people?

Start: 7:00 pm

ELIZABETH ROYTE HAS WRITTEN “BOTTLEMANIA”, AN IMPORTANT BOOK ON THE WATER ISSUES OF TODAY. SHE AMAZINGLY OFFERS A VERY BROAD, GLOBAL VIEW ON WATER ISSUES, YET ALSO USES THE SITUATION IN FRYEBURG, MAINE TO PUT A LOCAL FACE ON IT. IT REVEALS MUCH ABOUT WHAT IT IS LIKE TO OPPOSE THE MULTI-NATIONAL CORPORATION NESTLE.
THIS IS A MUST READ!
