At MCLU, we are organizing on behalf of Rabbi Moshe Wilansky, who, after a neighbor complained, was told by the city of Portland to cease holding prayer services in his home due to zoning laws. We are holding a rally on Thursday the 21^st at 5:30pm outside city hall to show support for the Rabbi. The hearing before the zoning board will begin at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. Throughout the month of September, there will be an extensive exhibit, The Hiroshima -Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition, on display at The Meg Perry Center from the Hiroshima City Peace Museum. Join us for the opening during First Friday, September 5th. A series of anti nuclear films will be shown throughout September, in conjunction with the exhibit. The Navy’s “Blue Angels” flight team is coming to Naval Air Station Brunswick (NASB) again to recruit young people to join the military and to promote the military industrial complex. Maine Veterans for Peace will organize a non-violent statewide peace march from the downtown Brunswick mall to NASB on September 6 beginning at 9:30 am. An all-night candlelight vigil will also be held beginning at 6:00 pm at the NASB main gate on Friday, September 5. | ||
