The monthly Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County film series each third Wednesday will present “Burning Bridges” on June 18. For this program, the location has been changed to the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Belfast, 37 Miller St., and the program begins at 6:30 PM. The focus of the film and program is restorative justice and the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast.

At 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 25th, at the Reversing Falls Sanctuary in Brooksville, Maine there will be an evening with Cynthia McKinney. Well, sort of. The former Congressman from Georgia is seeking the Green Party’s nomination for President and, though she won’t be in Brooksville, noted activist Bruce Gagnon and regional VP of the National Lawyers Guild, Lynne Williams, will and they will speak of the Green Party and McKinney’s candidacy.
The Flatbread Company and Peace Action Maine present a Rent Party benefit at The Meg Perry Center featuring Marissa Nadler, Glenn Jones, Arborea, and Bird Microphone on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 8:00 to 11:00 PM. A July 4th picnic with speakers at Laurie Dobson’s farm (which was Camp Alex last August), 78 Old Cape Rd. in Kennebunkport, Maine. Please arrive before noon on Friday and bring your own food plus food to share. Overnight camping is available at the farm on Friday and Saturday nights - bring firewood for campfires if you plan to camp. Breakfasts of blueberries and granola with coffee for a nominal fee are a possibility. Campers need to RSVP to Laurie Dobson (contact info at the end).
