The University of Maine has produced one Nobel Prize winner (so far). Dr. Bernard Lown graduated from the University in 1942 with a degree in zoology. His Honors thesis was titled Multiple Alleles in Sex Determination of the Parasitic Wasp, Harborbracon. He then went on to receive his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University.
