Documentary "THIRST" to be Shown at the Abbott Room of the Belfast Public Library

Sep 17 2008 - 6:00pm

PLEASE JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 6 PM IN THE ABBOTT ROOM OF THE BELFAST PUBLIC LIBRARY TO SEE “THIRST” — A documentary that has won many awards and, according to some critics, is a remarkable film that will inspire you to act! It is a character driven documentary with no narration that reveals how the debate over water rights between communities and corporations can serve as a catalyst for explosive and steadfast resistance to globilization. It raises the question — Is water part of a shared “commons”, a human right for all people? Or is it a commodity to be bought, sold, and traded in a global marketplace? It tells the stories of communities in Bolivia, India, and the United States as water becomes the most valuable global resource of the 21st Century.

Thanks a lot, Phyllis Coelho
