Donations to Seeds of Peace Camp Honor 9/11 Victim
A few days after Lauren Rosenzweig's husband was killed in the hijacked
plane that hit the World Trade Center, she saw a television report on Seeds
of Peace Camp in Otisfield, a place where teenagers from countries that are
feuding with each other come together to learn how to work out differences
and end war.
In her husband's name, Rosenzweig has requested donations to the Seeds of
Peace Camp because, she says, "every little step toward getting to know
another human being makes it that much harder to kill them." The $40,000
raised thus far has come from co-workers, friends and strangers. By honoring
her husband, Philip Rosenzweig, in this way, Ms. Rosenzweig hopes that he
will not have died in vain. At Seeds of Peace Camp youngsters from India
learn to understand Pakistani youngsters; Israeli boys and girls get to tell
their stories and listen to the stories of Palestinian boys and girls, and
Bosnian children make friends with Serb children. "What I wanted to do,"
said Ms. Rosenzweig, "was to give the money to an organization that would
make this not happen again."
