On June 4, 1996, the day Ukraine officially celebrated giving up its nuclear weapons, Russian and Ukrainian defense ministers joined U.S. Secretary of Defense William J. Perry in a ceremony planting sunflowers on a former Ukrainian missile site. Perry said, "Sunflowers, instead of missiles, in the soil would insure peace for future generations". Sunflowers have become the symbol of the movement to abolish all nuclear weapons.

Peace Action Maine is proud to make available to you six lovely note card designs by artist Mary Levine. Three are designs of fresh pea pods and three are of sunflowers.

One of the three fresh pea pod designs includes a Dove of Peace. The other two pea pod designs include the motto "Give Peas A Chance"

The three sunflower designs come from the inspiration for the Abolition 2000 movement, because we know that sunflowers (Helianthus) are able to leach toxins, including radiation, from the soil.

Current prices are: $2.00 each or $8.00 per pack of six.
