Hello Friends.

The Black Bird Legal Collective will be hosting an emergency rent raiser party on Saturday, September 13 at 7pm to benefit collective members/co-founders David and Kristen. These longtime community activists are facing eviction and need your help! Expect lots of yummy food, good company, and a musical performance from Portland’s Chis Teret.

If you can’t make it, your support is still desperately needed and greatly appreciated; send whatever you can contribute to 26 Orange St, Portland Me, 04102.

So mark your calenders!

September 13, 7pm at 29 Greenleaf St Apt. 1 (near Kennedy Park in the East End).

Feel free to email for directions, or call Jordan at 329-7145.

See you there!

Love and Struggle,
The Black Bird Legal Collective

WHY HELP PAY SOME ONE’S RENT?

Do you live paycheck to paycheck…or even close? Are you or others in your community struggling with the rising costs of living? Gentrification in Portland is in full swing and we need to come together to stop it!!

Rent raiser’s are not charity — they are an opportunity to redirect the $$ spent on an occasional night out to support each other in times of economic crisis, strategize on how to keep our city livable for working class folks, and institute a program of survival while we work to build a program of resistance! While we’re at it we might as well have a little fun together too!
