Monday, March 31:
Maine Issues & Political Prisoners with the Prison System
EXILED: The story of Deane Brown
There will be a presentation about Deane Brown, a Maine political prisoner. Deane was exiled to one of the most dangerous prisons in the country, located in Baltimore Maryland for blowing the whistle on Human Rights abuses occurring at Maine State Prison in Warren, and refusing to cease reporting on them. There will be an exhibit covering Deane and the articles about his struggle to be a voice from inside of prison, the media censorship he faces, and what is being done to bring Deane home.
All day there will be a prisoner activism info table, giving people a chance to plug into prison activism happening in the state of Maine. There will be information that is not widely available about prison conditions, the way prisons affect local communities, art by prisoners, and how we can change the prison system that has incarcerated the most people in the world.
