The Social Action Committee of the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church presents information to challenge members and friends to begin fully participating in activities to mitigate harm to our Earth and all its inhabitants. Local environmental organizations will provide information on transportation, energy, local foods options and more.
Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church is a community of supportive people that celebrate diversity, encourages spiritual growth and promotes social responsibility. The church was the 2003 winner of the national James Bennett Award for Congregational Action on Human Justice and Social Action. It was the first Unitarian Universalist Church in the nation designated as a Green Sanctuary, a program that encourages its members to walk lightly upon this Earth.
The Allen Avenue UU Church celebrates 186 years of liberal religion, tracing its existence in Portland, Maine back to 1821.
