Action Committee

Mission Statement

Our committee is resolved to build a just and peaceful world through the actions of all people committed to disarmament and creative responses to conflict. We will work to educate, to organize individuals, and to maximize the potential of each member to work towards peace and non-violence. We support and work in coalition with diverse groups in our community in order to learn from them, to strengthen each other and share our mutual skills. We seek to attain peace through justice.

Do you want to find out more about our programs and how you can become active in our planning? This is the place to start!

We meet on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Peace & Justice Center of Southern Maine in Portland (over Hi Bombay Restaurant). Come and check us out.

On Saturday, July 1st, 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. in the basement of O'Naturals in Portland we are having a follow-up meeting to Town Hall meeting.

The committee consists of active members who help to plan and participate in programs and events. The committee identifies issues consistent with the mission of Peace Action Maine and creates strategies to effect change and educate ourselves and our community. Please join us to learn more about the work of Peace Action Maine and to get involved. The committee is open to all.
